Software
that fits
the sport.

Sporting Works is a sports software and data studio. We build and run Spot Sports and its AI agent Jerry, Spot Sports Youth and Laylines, and help leagues, teams and media companies put data and AI to work.

AI agent inside Spot Sports

Jerry

A personal sports briefing, written every morning by an AI agent, that ends when you’re caught up.

Jerry watches scores, schedules, reporting, video and podcasts for every team a fan follows. It decides what changed, writes from linked sources only, checks every claim against official data, and publishes one complete briefing before 7 a.m. If a story can’t be proven, it doesn’t ship.

“Jerry may decide what matters. It may not decide what is true.”

Meet Jerry, your personal sports agent, with a sample morning briefing notification.
Jerry follows your picks and preps a daily briefing.
Jerry briefing archive: dated morning briefings, each led by the day’s top story.
A fresh briefing every morning, kept by date.
You’re caught up: all 13 stories in this briefing are done.
No infinite scroll. The briefing ends.

Data and AI for sports companies.

We work with a small number of leagues, teams, media companies and sports businesses on the decisions and products that run on data. Our work is led by the former head of data for ESPN+, who ran analytics for a streaming service with 25 million subscribers and, before that, built experimentation at The New York Times.

  • 25M

ESPN+ subscribers served by the analytics organization our lead ran.

  • 20+

people in that organization, across reporting, forecasting and data standards.

  • 10×

more experiments each month at The New York Times, from 10 to 100+, on a self-serve platform used by 100+ teams.

  • 60%

fewer ad-hoc data requests after a self-serve reporting suite replaced them.

  • Subscriber and fan analytics

Acquisition, engagement and churn, measured the way a streaming service measures them. Segments and forecasts that tell you who stays and why.

  • Rights and content valuation

What a league, event or show is worth to your audience, on one metrics framework, so every bid and renewal uses the same numbers.

  • Experimentation

Testing programs and platforms that teams trust and run themselves, from the first A/B test to a hundred a month.

  • AI products on live data

Agents and ranking systems built on fast-moving, messy sources: product definition, evaluation, guardrails and production rollout. Jerry is our proof.

  • Data foundations

Metric definitions, governance, pipelines and self-serve reporting on the stack you already have, whether that’s Snowflake, Databricks or dbt.

  • Team design and leadership

Hiring plans, operating models and interim data leadership for organizations building or resetting an analytics team.

Case study Jerry: an AI agent that publishes about 290 fact-checked stories every morning for $2.66. Ranking, evaluation, guardrails and rollout, the same work we do for clients, running in production on our own product. See how Jerry works

How we work

  1. Assessment

A few weeks to map your data, metrics and decisions, ending in a plan your team can act on.

  2. Build

We design and ship the system with your team: the dashboard, the experiment program, the agent.

  3. Fractional leadership

Ongoing senior data leadership while you hire or grow your own.

Talk to us about data and AI

AI changed the math of sports software.

For decades, software followed the money to the biggest leagues. Everyone else made do with spreadsheets, group chats and tools built for nobody in particular. AI-native development makes it worth building properly for every sport, at every level.

  1. Fit

Shaped around how a sport actually runs: its calendar, its roles, its rules. Not a generic tool with a logo swapped in.

  2. Access

More people find their way in. Better discovery for fans, parents and players who are new to a sport.

  3. Measurement

Instrumented like a streaming service from day one, so every product knows what is working and why.
